Dear Ms. Liang, Our guided tour of Beijing finishes today and my husband and I wish to thank Barrin, our Beijing tour guide, our Beijing driver and your company for what has been the most memorable holiday that we have ever had. Barrin was at the airport to meet us and proved to be a most diligent, pleasant and informative host throughout the tour. Tips for taking a taxi in Beijing:

Taking a taxi is quite easy in Beijing. But there are still some illegal taxis in Beijing! You can use the following methods to choose a legitimate taxi:

1) The taxi plaque number starts with the number "B"
2) The taxi should be equippped with the light on the top and meter measuring.
3) It's better to take a taxi on the road instead of a taxi waiting somewhere. The empty taxi must show a red light in the front window.
My experience tells me that there are two areas where you will encounter the illegal ( black ) taxi:

A.The taxi waiting at the North Gate of Forbidden City. Actually the legal cabs are not permitted to wait in fornt of the gate. If you want to take a taxi when you finish your visit to Forbidden City, we suggest you walk about 200 meters and find a taxi going on the road.

B.Please take a serious look at the taxi waiting at the Summer Palace. We still suggest you use a moving taxi. Don't use a the taxi which has no B or with funny colour ( normal colour: yellow and Red ).

Watch out! Don't come aboard the black "illegal tour bus":
In Beijing, there are also some black illegal tour bus sending tourists to the Great Wall. You will have a terrible trip once you get on it. To promote their illegal tours, these sales people always deliver a small card to passing-by travelers wanting to go to Great Wall tour by standing on the some public places like the street, Tian'anmen Square, or the entrance of Forbidden City.
Very often they use their "unbelievable low price" to attract those "blind" tourists. But once you come aboard their bus for the Great Wall, they have to make you pay additional fees again and again. Sometimes even the Great Wall is not real Badaling section!! We remind you not to take their card if you happen to meet them. Actually it's very easy to recognize an illegal tour bus in Beijing. A legal tour bus plaque starts with "B", if not, you possiblely get on a "black tour bus".

Ski Tips for first time skiers in Beijing:

If this is your first time ski experience in Beijing, you don't know where to go, where to stay, what to wear, or even when to start. Here are tips for you:

1. Little snow in Beijing, why so many ski resorts around Beijing?
In winter Beijing rarely snows, this doesn't discourage local ski enthusiasts who want to go skiing not far from their home. Skiing now has become an important winter passion among the locals. So the man made ski resorts have mushroomed due to the popular ski market in Beijing.

2. Where are these ski resorts located? Please name some of them.
Most of them are located on the mountain slopes in Changping District, Yanqing District, Huairou District, Miyun District and Pinggu District, ranging 60km to 100km from downtown Beijing. There are a dozen of ski resorts in Beijing. Please check out the 10 ski resorts Beijing.

3. Do these ski resorts offer accommodations also?
Except Nanshan Ski Resort which offers nice chalets, most of other ski resorts only provide basic accommodations. If you prefer to stay overnight by the ski resorts, you may use some nice hotels or inns available not far from the ski resorts instead of the accommodations in the resorts.

4. Usually when do these ski resorts start to operate each year?
Most of the Beijing ski resorts begin their ski business aroung mid December and stop service aroung mid February next year. But each ski resort has its own opening time depending its own business system and also largely on the weather each year. So please contact your Beijing ski travel advisors for the newest ski information.

5. How do I get to these ski resorts?
There is no direct public transport from the downtown Beijing to these ski resorts. So taking taxis from your hotel or on the streets are one of the options. Another option is to rent a car or van up front from a local limo service providers. Check out Beijing Ski Resorts Transfer.

6. Gear (Skis, Boots)
If you don't want to cram your ski gear all the way to Beijing, you may rent your skis and boots from the ski resorts in Beijing. All the ski resorts in Beijing offer the ski gear rental service with some amount of deposit of about RMB 200 per person.

7. Ski clothes
If you want to travel lightly for your ski trip to Beijing without bringing your own ski clothes, this never causes any problem since all the ski resorts offer ski clothes rental of ski jackets of all sizes with some amount of deposit of RMB 200 per person. Ski clothes closet: RMB 10 Per Person.

8. Can anyone advise me of the approximate ski fees concerned?
