group tour of Xian and more
Daniel Li,
I am writing to you to thank you very much for our wonderful trip to Xian. The tour that you organised was fantastic. Sorry for the delay in feedback. I thank you for all your prompt and quick replies to our needs and desires for the tour that we took on Feb 10, 2008. You are very professional and provided what we had requested. I enjoyed my tour of Xian - from start to finish. It was most comforting to have my tour guide meet me at the airport. Your tour guide - Ms Mary Ma is exceptional in both her English and her knowledge of her subject. She is to be congratulated.
I have no hesitation in recommending your company to other travellers.
Thank you once again.
Kind regards
Janet Hawke

We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Numerous flights linking Xian Xianyang Airport to the major cities in China including Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, Lhasa, Guangzhou, Kunming and several international flights to Hong Kong, Macao, Seoul, Bangkok, KualaLumpur, and Nagoya, Niigata, and Hiroshima in Japan.

Whether you are going to arrive or leave Xian Xianyang Airport, it is advisable to know which terminal you are going to use since Xian Xianyang Internatinal Airport has two terminals - T1 and T2. The two terminals are very close to each other. The Terminal 1 is the old one built in 1080s while the terminal 2 was completed in 2007, much larger than T1. Most of the domestic flights arrive at Terminal 2. All the international flights leave or arrive at terminal 2

Xian is a highway tranportation hub linking 9 national highways extending in all directions to 18 provinces covering over 300 cities and counties. There are three long-distance bus terminals.

The biggest one is just located across Xian Railway Station. It is called Xian Qiche Zhan ( Xian Bus Station ) offering the long-distance bus service to Huashan Mountain (2 hours), Luoyang (435km), Zhengzhou (570km), Taiyuan (690km), Tianshui (380km), Yinchuan (720km), Ya'an(405km) and many more places.

When planning a trip to Xian, one of the frequently asked questions likely to tantalize you is "When is the best time to visit Xian?". Unlike other cities in China, Xian attractions are mostly historical relics which have little influence by seasons. As a matter of fact, Xian is a place which you can visit on all seasons.

Xian is laid out on a neat grid pattern centrally denoted by the massive Bell Tower (钟楼), which radiates out four major streets: Nan Dajie (South Avenue - 南大街), Bei Dajie (North Aevenue - 北大街), Dong Dajie (East avenue - 东大街) and Xi Dajie (West Avenue - 西大街). Xian Railway Station is located outside the northeast corner of Xian city wall while Xian Xianyang Airport is located 40km northwest of Xian.

The ancient city wall still surrounds the downtown Xian in a rectangular shape with four gates lingking the four major streets extending from the Bell Tower in the center of the ctiy. Most of the attractions can be found close to the Bell Tower like Drum Tower, Great Mosque. However, some of the city sights, such as the Shaanxi Museum, Big Goode Pagoda and Little Goose Pagoda are located south of the city wall. The Terra-cotta Warriors is located about 30km east of Xian downtown.

Getting around in the city of Xian is also very convenient. The city of Xian is laid out on a grid pattern with clear road signs. Most of the attractions within the wall are walkable or bike friendly.

The tourism buses connect those sights a little far from the city center. The taxi rates are much lower than those in Beijing and Shanghai. Two of the six planned subway lines are under construction. In a word, Xi'an transportation is independent traveler friendly.

Xian has an increasing number of accommodations options ranging from budget hostels to upscale international chain hotels such as Sheraton, Shangri-la, the Accor.

With the development of thousands of years, Xian snack collects the distillate of other area's cuisine and inherits the craft of royal court of past dynasties.

The Lao Song's Yang Rou Pao Mo (Mutton & Bread), Fan Ji Rou Jia Mo (Chinese Hamburger), Jiasan Guan Tang Bao, together with the food at Hui Min Street are of good reputation and genuine. Xian has the most snacks of the world. It could be called "the Kingdom of the Snack.

Many large-scale shopping malls, department stores as well as supermarkets come forth in Xian City, most of which gather in Xi Dajie, Dong Dajie, Jiefang Road etc.

There are also some cultural relics and flee markets such as Xiyang Shi in a narrow alley running north of the Great Mosque, which is the best place selling souvenirs like terra-cotta warriors, Mao's memorabilia...; the Qing-style Shuyuan Xiang near the South Gate, the main street for the art suppliers, paintings, calligraphy, papper cuts, brushes and fake rubbings. In addition, do not forget to make the bargain.

Just as Beijing's Sanlitun and Shanghai's Xintiandi, Defu Lane (Defuxiang Bar Street) is a street of Cafe, Tea House and Bar. It is the center of Xi'an's nightlife. If you prefer a night performance to kill your night time, Tang Dynasty Show is your best choice (Add: No. 75, Chang'an Road, Xi'an, outside the south gate). The fountain and music show is not to be missed at the Gig Goose Pagoda Square starting at 8:00pm.
