Chengdu Tour

Chengdu is the capital city of Sichuan Province in Southwestern China. Chengdu is the home and habitat of giant pandas. Its local cuisine is world famous for its spicy food. Chengdu Travel Information

Train Travel to Chengdu
At present, Chengdu has 3 train stations and plan to build the fourth train station in near future. The three train stations are Chengdu North Railway Station, Chengdu East Train Station and Chengdu South Train Station. The city is going to build the fourth train station – Chengdu West Train Station.

Both Chengdu North Train Station and Chengdu East Train Station are the major railway stations in Chengdu while Chengdu South Station and Chengdu West Station are the auxiliary train stations.

Before the completion of Chengdu East Train Station, Chengdu North Railway Station was the largest train station with great passenger volume. Now the East Train Station is the largest one in Chengdu.

Make sure you are in the right train station for your train trip to Chengdu or beyond.

Chengdu North Railway Station
Located to the north of Renmin Road, just outside the second ring road in the north. The Chengdu North Railway Station is designed for Baoji Chengdu rail line and K and T trains.

Chengdu East Railway Station
Located around Hualong Road, Wuduan Chengdu. The east train station is focused on Chengdu Chongqing train line, Chengdu Guizhou train and Chengdu Xian railway. It will become the base for high speed and D trains in Chengdu.

Chengdu South Railway Station
Located at Airport Expressway Exit, Wuhou, Chengdu. The south train station is built for operating the Chengdu Kunming train line, including the D train to Pujiang, Yaan, and Dujiangyan.

Flight Travel to Chengdu
Chengdu Shuangliu Airport is located 16km southwest of the downtown Chengdu. There are two adjacent terminals at Chengdu airport - Old Terminal and New Terminal.

The Old Terminal is a one floor bhuiling taged C1 – C2 and the New Terminal is a two-storey building taged A & C. The Old Terminal is the original terminal now serving the domestic flights within Sichuan Province ( like Jiuzhaigou ).

The New Terminal is designed both for domestic flights outside Sichuan Province and international flights.

Chengdu Shuangliu Airport is the busiest airport in Western China. It is also the important transit airport for Lhasa Airport, Changdu airport and Nyingchi airport. It is a base for Chengdu Airlines, Air China and Sichuan Airlines.

Overland Travel to Chengdu
There are over 10 long-distance bus stations in Chengdu. Xinnanmen Bus Terminal is often bused by foreign travelers. Xinnanmen literally means "New South Gate". When to Visit in Chengdu
Chengdu enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate characterized by an early spring, hot summer, cool autumn and warm winter. The average annual temperature for the year is 16℃. Rainfall is common year-round but peaks in July and August. When planning a trip to Chengdu, one of the frequently asked questions is “When is the best time to visit Chengdu?” Normally, the best time to visit here are March to June, or September to November.

Chengdu City Layout
Similar to the layout of the city of Beijing, Chengdu is also set in the pattern of ring roads, namely the first ring road, second ring road and third ring road. All the ring roads are divided into different sections (duan) in the light of the four directions, such as Xiyiduan (west first section), Beisanduan (North Third Section)...

The main thoroughfare - Renmin Road cuts the city center into two parts (east and west) since the avenue Renmin Road runs from north to south - Renmin North Road, Renmin Middle Road and Renmin South Road.

The center of the downtown Chengdu is the square passed by Renmin Middle Road where there is an exhibition center, stadium, and the colossal Mao statue. Just south of the square is the Tianfu Square, the shopping center in Chengdu, a pedestrian only shopping area.

The Chengdu Railway Station ( or also known as Chengdu North Railway Station ) is located at the north end of Renmin Road. The railway station for high speed trains is located in the east of Chengdu called Chengdu East Railway Station.

The subway line starts from Chengdu North Railway station along the axis and pass by Chengdu South Railway station. Chengdu Shuangliu Airport is located 16km in the southwest of Chengdu.

Get around in Chengdu
Taking a public bus is an experience in Chengdu. Bus 303 runs between Shuangliu Airport – Chengdu North Railway Station and stops at the center of the city. Bus 16 is most frenquently used running from Chengdu North Railway Station to Chengdu South Station along Renming Road. The Bus 81 operates from the Mao Statue to Qingyang Taoist Temple. Bus 12 circles the first ring road and ends at Chengdu Railway Station.

Chengdu Taxi is convenient for oversea travelers. Chengdu taxi drivers are said to be ‘living maps’. They can give helpful suggestions. Chengdu Taxi Fares:

Bicycle is a great way of city transportation to get around in the city of Chengdu though people have some risk of air polution Bike rental outlets in hostels, major streets. Check carefuly before you pedal off.

At the time of writing, Chengdu only has one subway line - Line 1, running from north to south along the axis of Chengdu city with stops at Chengdu North Railway Station, Renmin Middle Road and Chengdu South Railway Station.

Chengdu Travel Guide
Chengdu enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate characterized by an early spring, hot summer, cool autumn and warm winter. The average annual temperature for the year is 16 degrees C.

The best time to visit is between March and June or between September and November. The hottest season here is during July and August when temperatures can be almost unbearable although Chengdu does have a few nice spots (such as Qingchengshan Mountain) outside the city center where it is possible to get some shade and respite from the heat.
