We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Mount Taishan is located in central- western part of Shandong Province. Rising 1545 meters above sea level, it is the most significant of the sacred peaks in China. During the period of Qin Dynasty and Han Dynasties, Taishan Mountain gradually turned into a famous mountain where the emperors granted titles to Buddhists and did their worship until the Ming and Qing Dynasty. In history, 72 Chinese emperors came here for worshiping or holding ceremonies of handing crowns, the World Heritage Site.

Shandong was first used as a geographical name during the Warring States period (475 B.C.-221B.C.). It is generally referred to the area east of the Taihang Mountain. The name Shandong was used to describe an administrative area in the Jin Dynasty (1115-1234). During the Yuan Dynasty (1206-1368), the government established Shandong "dao" (an administrative division at that time).

In the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the government established Shandong "buzhengsi" (an administrative division), forming a territory similar to today's Shandong Province; most of the names of the counties were used up until recently. Shandong Province was formally established in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), with its capital at Jinan. After the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the province assumed its present administrative division after several adjustments.
