Situated in the northeast of China, it is the most northern province with the highest latitude compared with the other provinces in China. Harbin is well known to the world for its dense forests, wonderful snow scenery, rare wild animals and special culture. Its resources in ice and snow rank first in China. There are unique views like “wood-sea and snowfield”, glacier and rime, ice carving and winter swimming. Besides, there are about 100 large ski yards. Harbin, Daqing and Yichun are the cities with strong northern frontier flavor. The northernmost town in China-“Mohe” is called “North Pole village in China”
Ice and Snow World, situated in the opposite of the Sun Island Landscape, is the largest, the most brilliant and the most complete park, which is also named “the Ice Disneyland”. Blocks of ice are carved into sculptures and buildings and lit from within to provide glittering lights of ice.
Ice-lantern Festival in the winter of Harbin is the most brilliant and attractive activity. These ice craftworks are made with water, lanterns and the natural ice from the Songhua River running through the Harbin under the nimbus of the artists.
The temperature in Harbin reaches forty below zero, both Fahrenheit and Celsius, and stays below freezing nearly half the year. This Chinese city is actually further north than notoriously cold Vladivostok, Russia.
The 53m tall church is a perfect example of Byzantine architecture: the main structure of the church is laid out as a Latin Cross with the main hall topped with a huge green tipped roof. Under the bright sun, the church, together with the square around it, reminds the Chinese, bizarrely, of the Red Square in Moscow.
Built in 1953 and also called Jiangpan Park originally, the Stalin park is located on the southern bank of the Songhua River. Extending 1,750 meters from the Songhua River railway bridge to the east and Jiuzhao Park to the west, it is a belt-shaped open park along the bank.
Located in the north foot of Mt.Guokui, Yabuli town, 193kms away from Harbin, Yabuli Ski Resort was the hunting ground in the Qing Dynasty only open to royal members and nobles. Nowadays it is the largest ski resort in China with the best facilities and it is the main training base for the Chinese ski team.
Known as “the Eastern Paris” and “the Eastern Moscow”, Harbin city has been listed as a national cultural city for its full-bodied exoticism. Zhongyang Dajie is the most respective and remarkable mark.
