We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Guangdong Tour
Guangdong Guangzhou as its capital, Guangdong Province is located on the Pearl River Delta on the South China Sea in the southern China. It is the fastest developing and one of the riches provinces in China.

Guangdong has two world heritage sites - Kaiping Diaolou and Villages, and Danxia Mountains in Shaoguan. Guangdong does not have many must-see spots. But Guangdong has many advantages to becoming a business and family holiday destination - hot springs, golf courses and theme parks, making Guangdong perfect for holidays. In addition, The mountainous region in northern Guangdong has successfully developed its own eco-tourism industry.

Guangdong's geographic location and developed transportation systems are all pluses in its favour for travellers. Hong Kong, a world-class shopping Mecca, borders with Shenzhen; Macao, the Las Vegas of East Asia, borders with Zhuhai.

Guangdong Food
Guangdong cuisine is one of the most prominent regional cuisines in China. Its cooking style and methods are quite unique and different from those in other parts of China due to its geographic location - the mountainous area in the northern Guangdong and the South China sea in the south. Guangdong food is mainly divided into three branches: the traditional Guangdong food; Chaozhou food (similar to Fujian cuisine) and Dongjiang food (represented by Huizhou food).

Guangzhou has a unqiue food culture and a cusine paradise in China. The highlight of Guangzhou food includes Dim sum and Yum cha which could be found almost in all parts of Guangzhou. There are many tiny eateris providing local flavor snacks and desserts.

As a migration city, Shenzhen offers a wide variety of cuisines coming from different parts of China including the international cuisines as well. So in Shenzhen it is easier to find your hometown food. In Zhuhai, the area bordering the border gate with Macao is teeming with restaurants offering a wide choice of cuisines local and international. In Chaozhou, you will have an opportunity to taste a unqiue cuisine different from Guangzhou or traditional Guangdong food and it is called Chiu Chow dishes. The local old town has many tiny eateries providing the local flovors including steamed crabs and fish balls in the soup.

What to Buy
Guangdong is one of the richest provinces in China with much developed commerce. Both Guangzhou and Shenzhen are the most sought-after shopping meccas. Guangzhou is the trading and manufacturing hub in southern China with plenty of goods on markets. It has many shopping streets and markets, which will not let you leave Guangzhou empty-handed. Beijing Road, Wende Road and Haizhu Square are three popular shopping areas for clothes and other merchandise. The popular markets include Tianhe Computer City, Fangcun Tea market, Xiguan Antique Market.

For many visitors to Shenzhen, a trip to Shenzhen is not complete without doing some shopping in Shenzhen. Adjacent to Hong Kong, Shenzhen has a wide collection of goods home and abroad attractiong a huge number of buyers from inland China and locals as well. The famous shopping areas include Dongmen Market (tailored suits and skirts), Dafen Village (oil paintings and masterpieces), Luohu Commercial City ( a large shopping mall with numerous goods).

Nightlife in Guangdong
Though drinking tea or Yum cha is the most popular in Guangdong, cafes and bars are developing fast, especially in the cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai. In Guangzhou, you will find some chic bars near the Garden Hotel and in Zhujiang New Town. Guangzhou has some international style bars including Bai'e tan Bar Street along the Pearl River, Heping Road and Huansi East Road. Having a nigh cruise along the Pearl River is also popular among the first time visitors.

In Shenzhen, there are a host of hip cafes and bars around Citic City Plaza, COCO Park, the OCT Comtemporary Art Terminal. A bunch of pubs could be found on Shuiwan Road and Lianhua Road in Zhuhai.
