We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Attractions:

Kaiping Diaolou and Village
The Kaiping Diaolou is fortified multi-storey towers, generally made of reinforced concrete. These towers are located mainly in Kaiping County, Guangdong.
The first towers were built during the early Qing Dynasty, reaching a peak in the 1920s and 1930s, when there were more than three thousand of these structures. Today, approximately 1,833 diaolou remain standing in Kaiping, and approximately 500 in Taishan. In 2007, UNESCO named the Kaiping Diaolou and Villages in China as a World Heritage Site.
If you want to visit Kaiping Diaolou and Village, get to Shenzhen or Guangzhou first, bus-bound to Kiaping is some 50 yuan with about 2 hours. Expressway is available. Visitor could rent a car or take a taxi at Kaiping to go around to see Diaolous scattered throughout the countryside. Hiring a local guide is a wise choice.

Liyuan Garden
Liyuan Garden is situated at Genghua Village Tangkou Town, Kaiping District, Jiangmen City of Guangdong Province.
Liyuan Garden is a private garden built for about 10 years by Mr. Xie Weili, a local overseas Chinese in United States in 1920th. The garden covers an area of 19,600 square meters and blends the traditional Chinese garden style, style of the western buildings and the style of water villages south of the Yangtze River together.
Each part of the garden has a style of its own. They are separated by water or walls, but are connected by pavilion bridges and winding corridors, which can provide much food for thought for their views within the view and gardens within the garden.
This unique garden is a perfect combination of the modernist western architectural style of the period and the traditional landscaping of China.
