We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Location:
Foshan, an industrial city of Guangdong, is located in the northern part of the Pearl River, 20 kilometers from Guangzhou.

History:
Foshan has a long history of over 5000 years, innumerable legends and stories.
The town of Foshan is many centuries old, and was famous for its porcelain industry. Now, the third largest city in Guangdong, it has become relatively affluent compared to other Chinese cities, and is home to many large private enterprises.
Foshan has recently seen a transformation brought by China's booming economy. Foshan is also famous for its numerous Wing Chun schools where many come to train and spar.

Transportation:
Foshan Airport has already offered the airliners of such more than 20 large and medium cities as Beijing , Gui Lin , Hangzhou , Nanjing , Jinan , Fuzhou , Kunming and so on.
Foshan is a main interchange for railway routes linking Guangzhou, Hong Kong and the western Guangdong Province
Foshan has hundreds of inter-town and inter-province bus lines. There are also lines to the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong.

Hotels:
Foshan's hotels vary in price as much as quality, but you won't find China's most chic hotels here.
Those looking for something cheaper might try the Memories hotel.
Looking for something in the three star range? You might want to try the Foshan Huangdu Hotel, the Yingjian Hotel, next to Qinghui Gardens, or the Chancheng Hotel, near the kung-fu dedicated Huang Feihong Memorial Museum.
Those aiming a little higher can try the four star City Hotel, which serves brazilian BBQ, and features an aquatherapy center and a tennis court.
Fans of five star pampering and service will probably find the Swisshotel Foshan Guangdong, and the Fontainbleau Hotel more to their liking.

Dining:
Foshan cuisine is belongs to Yue food which is one of the four famous food in China. Foshan cuisine features a wide rang of ingredients. Its cuisine lays emphasis on deep frying, stewing, baking. Dishes cooked in this way are crisp, light, refreshing and tasty, etc.
Specialties from Foshan are Foshan Meat Cake, Xiqiao Cake, Nanhai Rattan Works, Daliang Clogs, etc.

Nightlife:
Foshan nightlife is not as prosperous as Guangzhou and Shenzhen, but it is still very colorful.

Weather:
Foshan has a subtropical monsoon climate. The city enjoys adequate sunshine and rainfall. The annual average temperature is 21.2-22.2 degrees Celsius. The temperature in January and February is the lowest.
From April to September it gets relatively hotter and more rainfall. The annual average precipitation is 1,600 to 2,000 millimeters.

Attractions:

Ancestors' Temple
The Ancestors' Temple is located in the urban area of Foshan of Guangdong Province.
The Ancestors' Temple was built in the Northern Song Dynasty and was mainly used as a place where sacrifices to the Xuantian God occurred. In the middle of the main hall, there is a statue of the Xuantian God with the gilded head, knees and feet.
The temple is composed of such buildings as Wanfu Platform, Lingyin Torii, Jinxiang Pond, Zhonggu Garret, Three Gates, Front Hall, Main Hall and Qingzhen Garret, etc in line with the central axial.
It is one of the main cultural relics of Guangdong province as well as one of the most famous tourist sites in Guangdong.



Qinghui Garden
Located in Daliang Town, Shunde District of Foshan City, Qinghui Garden is one of the ten famous gardens in China and one of the four famous gardens in Guangdong Province.
Inside the Park, the construction is exquisite with a unique style and combines the feature of South China's building and the garden on the south of the Yangtze River. Its main buildings include Bixi Grass House, Bisheng Flower Display Room, Time Cherishing Study, Guiji Farmhouse, Clear Wave Temple, Eight Angle Pool, Bamboo Room, Dou Hole, Monkey Mountain, etc.
Qinghui Garden that combines ancient gardens, architecture and carvings is well worth a visit.



Xiqiao Mountain
Xiqiao Mountain is located in the southern Nanhai District of Foshan City. As early as 600-odd years ago, Xiqiao Mountain has been hailed as a tourist resort, which was highlighted by numerous literates and travelers since Ming and Qing Dynasties.
There are 72 peaks, 36 caves, 207 clear springs, 28 cataracts, 9 scenic areas and two lakes in Xiqiao Mountain. XiqiaoMountain has been awarded laurels as “National Key Scenic Spot”, “National AAAA-grade Scenic Spot”, “National Forest Park” and “National Geological Park”. It is embracing visitors from far and near with its natural beauty and profound tourist cultural deposit.
