We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

As a well-known agricultural province, the local people of Zhengzhou take the cooked wheaten food as the major one in their daily life. Zhengzhou cuisine is called Yu Cuisine. Soups and broths are paramount in Yu Cuisine.

Local Cuisine
Huimian
Huinian (stewed noodles) is a traditional cuisine in Zhengzhou with a long history. Without exaggeration it is the No.1 dish in every Zhengzhou local’s heart. It cooks the noodle in the mutton soup and then adds some materials such as the cooked mutton, citron daylily and agaric. It tastes great with the fresh mutton soup.

Cooking carp in three styles
It is dish that you can have three tastes with the carp. The three cooking styles will used to cook the three parts of the carp. You will taste the fried carp, sweet and sour carp and the carp soup just in one dish. The carp grow up in Yellow River and before cooked it has been soaked in fresh water for three or four days.

Tube Chicken
Tube Chicken (Tong Zi Ji) used to be the famous dish of Kaifeng. After the store moved to Zhengzhou in 1954, Tube Chicken became one of popular dishes in Zhengzhou. It features bright yellow color, fat but not greasy and the more chewing, the more fragrant.

Men Bing

Hu La Tang
Hu La Tang is an important soup of Henan resident’s daily life. It is boiled with the mixture of cooked beef, beef soup, flour, vermicelli, kelp, spinach, pepper, ginger, salt, vigegar, as well as sesame oil.

Xiaoji Restaurant is considered as a card of Zhengzhou cuisine. In Xiaoji Restaurant, Sanxian Huimian is the most popular. The soup is made of chicken, bones, and mutton. 

Ma Yuxing Chicken and Duck Store
Tube chicken in Ma Yuxing Store has been a famous dish in Qing Dynasty in Kaifeng. In 1954, Ma Yuxing moved the store to Zhengzhou.

Fang Zhongshan Hu La Tang

The reason why a lot of residents keep drinking Hu La Tang in this store when they were children us that the taste of Hu La Tang in Fang Zhongxing Store is always as same as the origin.
