TripAdvisor
We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Thanks to its past history of serving as the capital of a number of dynasties, dining culture in Luoyang has been developed for thousands of years. There are various local foods ranging from imperial dishes to folk snacks that are popular among tourists.

The locals'favor is the soup, so the soup culture is abundant in Luoyang, such as Sour and Spicy Soup, Brewis, Bufan Soup, etc..
Thereinto, the 24-courses Luoyang Shui Xi (water Banquet) is the representative, which is suitable for traveling in soup.

Another interesting side to Luoyang dining is that due to the mix of Han nationality and Muslim here, much of food here has Muslim tinge. Kebabs and Muslim noodles can be found in almost every small restaurant bearing the Muslim scrawl.

There are still many specialties from handcrafts to replicas that could be found in Luoyang. The Palace Lantern is a special handicraft in Luoyang, once used to celebrate the founding of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220) in the imperial palace.

The handcraft, Tang Dynasty three-color glazed pottery with a history of as long as 1,000 years could be found in many places. For tea connoisseurs, a taste of the pure and crisp Xinyang tea should not be missed, made from leaves of some of China's most unsullied land.

Locals now make thousands of reproductions of the ancient bronze vessels. Various bronze copies of wine cups, swords, chariots and horses are symbolic tourist souvenirs.

The really wonderful day begins at night, this saying is especially true in Luoyang. Although Luoyang is an ancient city with the profound ancient culture, the locals enjoy a colorful and fashionable nightlife particularly in recent years. Luoyang is well-known for its low-priced snacks, you can taste the snacks along the street and in a short time you may get a full stomach.

Maybe the nightlife in Luoyang is not as crowded as it is in Beijing or Shanghai, but it is no less fascinating. When the night is approaching, thousands of colorful lamps in the shape of blossoming peonies lit along the streets.

A performance known as "He Luo Feng" is worth watching, which shows the profound culture of the city. The dancers wear traditional clothes and playing ancient musical instruments will take you back thousands of years under the dulcet music and glittering lights.

The locals especially the young generations are fond of relaxing in various bars and other entertainment centers such as KTV, bathing houses and beauty salons. There are a few tiny bars on Zhu Jiang Road. KTV, restaurants and bars are lined up and very colorful. Wondering along the road at night is enjoyable.

Luoyang is one of the important birthplaces of the Chinese civilization. Culture in the Yellow River and the Luo River symbolized by the Pattern of the Yellow River and the Writing of Luoyang is regarded as a key origin of the ancient Chinese civilization.

It was here that Taoism initiated, Confucianism originated. Buddhism first introduced and Li School - a Confucian school of idealist philosophy of the Song and Ming Dynasties born. Many Chinese descendants found their roots here and cherished a deep love for the homeland.
