Qinhuangdao Yansai Lake



Yansai Lake is also named the Shihe reservoir, which is located besides an ancient fort with clear and clean water just like a bright pearl in Mt. Yan, thus getting the name of “Yansai Lake”. Yansai Lake is surrounded by remote mountains and canyon, extending 30kms. Along Yansai Lake stands various-shaped cliffs, natural scenery, green pines and wild apricot trees, which is usually called “Small Guilin”, “Small Three Gorges”. Inside Yansai Lake has a Bird Sing Forest holding more than 2,000 kinds of birds, an Eden to appreciate the performance of birds. The best season to visit here is from May to October, the season for migratory birds to migrate.

Wu Zuoren, a famous contemporary calligrapher and painter, composed such a poem:
" Natural beauty is less than what people make.
Mount Yan is more majestic than a clear lake.
Great water falls from the dams above. Below is a l,000-peak lake people love."

You’d better go to the mountain by cable car and then take pulleys to the lakeside. After that, you can have a taste of the beauty and majesty of lake and mountain by pleasure-boat. In the end you can go sightseeing in Birds Singing Forest and Squirrel Garden.
