Zhangjiakou Tour
Zhangjiakou is a booming prefecture-level city in Hebei Province. It borders Beijing to the northwest, Inner Mongolia to the north, Shanxi Province to the west.
Developed from a small fortress by the Great Wall in Ming and Qing dynasties, Zhangjiakou was once a vital north gate to Beijing due to its strategic location with a pivotal passage into the West China. Today Zhangjiakou is still a transport hub connecting Inner Mongolia and the West China with Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi and other parts of China. It now administrates 4 districts and 13 counties occupying an area of 36861 square meters with a population of 4.49 million.
Zhangjiakou has particular tourist resources; the ancient Great Wall, the flowery Bashang grasslands, awesome ski resorts, and plentiful historical relics. Zhangjiakou has very convenient transportation with railways and highways linked to Beijing, Hohhot and Datong. Zhangjiakou is now in full swing in terms of urban and social development stimulated by the two facts that the 40-minute Beijing Zhangjiakou Highspeed Train will be operated in 2017 and further extended to Datong; Beijing with Zhangjiakou bids for the 2022 Olmpic Winter Games.
