Lao She Memorial Hall
The Lao She Memorial Hall, former residence of Lao She, is an ordinary small courtyard. The three rooms and two flanking chambers facing south have been kept intact, just as when Lao She and his family lived here.The rooms in the east and west wings of the residence hold exhibits about Lao She’s childhood and his literary career through six aspects, displaying a large number of the valuable books, photos, manuscripts and items that Lao She used during his lifetime.
It has collected numerous versions and translations of Lao She’s literary works from different periods. Camel Xiang Zi alone has more than 30 translations. The modest scope of the exhibition provides visitors a vivid review of the lifelong literary achievements of Lao She, impressing people with the unique charm of his works and his lasting influence on younger generations.
