TripAdvisor
We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Tourist Attraction Description
Seeing the sunrise national flag ceremony at Tiananmen Square is a kind of interesting experience in travelling Beijing. Of course, to see the ceremony, you have to get up very early! How early? You can decide to wake up according to the timetable for the ceremony.

We usually pick you up from your hotel half hour earlier before the ceremony. Each day has its different time for flag raising. On the Tiananmen Square, you will see a group of soldiers of guard of honor coming through the gate of Tiananmen Tower, south of the Forbidden City. It isn't long before the music starts. Chinese National Anthem will being played when they ceremoniously attach the flag and slowly raised. The whole ceremony lasts only 3 minutes. They time the flag raising at the exact moment of sunrise. Many people will sing along the national anthem.

After the ceremony, you have some time to have a close look at the square and its surrounding buildings. Then, our tour guide will take you to Ming Dynasty City Wall Relics. A park being built on the one- kilometer-long ruins of ancient Beijing city walls, it was open to the public in May 2002. The rebuilding of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) City Wall Relics Park, with a designed area of 13 hectares, is part of the Chinese capital's effort to protect its historical relics.

Afterwards, you will be arranged to visit the Temple of Heaven. The park ( Temple of Heaven) is open at 6:00am daily mainly for early "birds" for morning exercises. The attractions in Temple of Heaven is open at 8:00am. So if you want to visit the main attractions in the park like Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests ( Qiniandian ), the Hall of Imperial Zenity (Huangqiandian), the Circular Mound (Huanqiu) the Imperial Vault of Heaven (Huangqiongyu), you are supposed to wait till 8:00am.

Dancing in Temple of Heaven

The two hours between 6:00am and 8:00am are prepared for the locals doing morning exercises. You are here to see and join in the activities going here in the early morning of Temple of Heaven. Some play Taiji and dance; some do gym exercises and play Jianzi; others fly kites or play cards and many more activities -- a real picture showcasing early morning life in Beijing.

Play Taiji in Temple of Heaven

After seeing and enjoying, you may start your tour of Temple of Heaven, the place where the emperors of Ming and Qing Dynasties worshiped heaven and prayed for peace and harvest. The temple complex was constructed from 1406 to 1420 during the reign of the Yongle Emperor. Or you may skip the tour and transferred back to your hotel in the downtown Beijing.
