Lijiang Nightlife
After nightfall, the ancient city of Lijiang is bustling with tourists. Walking with the crowd, it is very boisterous. The ancient city under the twilight of the night is beautiful and colorful. The ancient streets are clean and smooth. All kinds of river lights and neon lights sprinkle the ancient streets with mottled light and shadow.
Different people have different interesting, but the nightlife in Lijiang will not disappoint all of you. For the shopping enthusiast, especially the young girls, without question, Lijiang is an ideal place. There are a lot of small stores in Lijiang, selling various kinds of fancy handicrafts or snacks, which will be open till 12:00pm.
If you are interested in traditional music and dance, try the Naxi Ancient Music. Melodious Naxi music is performed every night from 20:00 to 21:30 by a group of local senior musicians who are typically more than 60 years old.
Xinhua Street, which runs along the water in the Old Town, is famous for its bars. Bars have become indispensable scenery of Lijiang, if you do not go bars in Lijiang, you can’t say that you have fully enjoy the night life of Lijiang. In the bars, some people hold a guitar and sing along with the soft melody, or dance to the joyful music. You can just take to friend or just staying alone, enjoying the precious tranquility which can not be found in big citis.
Naxi Ancient Music
Naxi ancient music is a type of folk music unique to the Naxi people in Lijiang area of Yunnan Province. The music is composed of three styles: Baisha Fine Music, Dongjing Music and Huangjing music, but Huangjing music has been lost. Naxi ancient music has a special charm thanks to the integration of Taoist ritual music, Confucian ceremonial music and even the ci and qu music of the Tang, Song and Yuan Dynasties.
Naxi ancient music has been passed down through a set of rigorous rules and the music performers are mostly elderly musicians. The instruments used in the performance are age-old ones, such as the sugudu, crook-necked pipa, reed pipe, bamboo flute, huqin, sanxian, Chinese gong chimes, wooden fish and inverted bell etc.
The Dongba Palace
The newly built Dongba Palace is also a famous place for Naxi Ancient music, decoratedwith typical Naxi religious symbols and ornaments which added much to the solemn cultural atmosphere. It has a daily performance at 19:30. Besides Naxi Ancient Music, the Dongba Palace hosts various cultural activities such as Naxi Dancing and staged religious rites.

Old Tree Bar, Lijiang
Old Tree Bar is near Lugu Lake, operated by two young people. Old Tree Bar gets its name because of a thousand-year-old walnut tree on the viewing deck of the bar. The main body of the bar is the traditional wood house of the Mosuo ethnic people. The bar is decorated to be old-fashioned and exotic.
A great variety of Mosuo featured food, self-grinded coffee, flavored tea and other beverages will be served in Old Tree Bar. Sitting in the bar, listening to the beautiful music, you can stay alone in a daze, or chat with friends, or read some books… Nothing could be more enjoyable than these things in Old Tree Bar.
