Lijiang Yunnan Attractions

Yunnan Province lies in the southwestern part of China. It is regarded as “Mysterious Land” by people outside the province for its beauty, fertility and wonder. The magnificent and peculiar scenes together with the brilliant and splendid history and culture constitute the rich tourism resources of Yunnan Province. The special geological environment helps create a climate for it as unique as the saying goes, “Four seasons at the mountain and different weathers in each ten li”. Furthermore, Yunnan Province is also abundant in species of animals and plants, hence its reputations “Kingdom of Animals and Plants”.
Lijiang City lies at the northwest part of Yunnan Province and is the main settlement of he Naxis and the heart of the ancient Naxi Kingdom. The ancient culture of the Naxis has a history of early 1,000 years.

Lijiang Yunnan Attractions

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
	Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, a national –level scenic area, is located 15 kilometers north of the county sea of Lijiang. It is a snow-capped mountain and the southernmost mountain with snow capped all year round in the Northern Hemisphere.

Shangri-la, Lijiang
	Shangri-la means “the sun and moon in the heart”, the symbol of forever, peace, and quiet, which is a fictional place described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by British author James Hilton. In the book, “Shangri-la” is a mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a lamasery.

Lugu Lake, Lijiang
	Lugu Lake is about 200kms from the center of Lijiang City. The water is so clear that you can see under water to about 12 meters.

Sifang Jie (Square Street), Lijiang
	Sifang Jie, named Square Street in English, is the center square of the Lijiang Ancient City. Because the shape of the square seems to be a seal of the ancient government, it was named “Square Street”.

Tiger Leaping Gorge
	Tiger Leaping Gorge lies at the Jinshan River where Lijiang and Shangrila meet. The narrowest section of the river along the gorge is only 30 meters. It was said that a gigantic tiger had leaped across the gorge, hence its name.
