Chinese Lunar New Year 2007 is coming!
Firecrackers in front of my building at 0:01AM, Feb 18, 2007.. It's 5:00pm now,on Feb 17,2007, just 7 hours before the coming the Chinese new year - 2007, the year of pig! Last year Beijing government has lifted the ban on the setting off of firecrackers. So this evening I expect the huge fireworks in Beijing. Yesterday evening, I went to a firecrackers selling center in my community ( the center is no more than a temporary and shabby house). All the fireworks selling centers are licensed and strictly controlled. I bought a small pile of firecrackers, costing me about RMB 300. It is said that some people would buy the fireworks worth over RMB 10000! The setting off of fireworks is believed to wipe off bad luck and bring fortune and prosperity in the new year. Usually People will set off firecrackers at the mid-night to meet the new year. But still some short-temper and worried people will break the rule and set off the fireworks far before the usual time. You see, the firecrackers are all ears now!! The new rule stipulates the firecrackers for the first whole day of the new year and the day time firecrackers setting off for successive 15 days. It's 5:40pm now. I can feel some nice smell coming downstairs. My wife is preparing the new year eve's dinner, one of the three big things for greeting the new year, the other two are watchting TV performance on CCTV and setting off fireworks. We plan to have the dinner at 6:30pm; set off the firecrackers at 7:30pm and watch TV at 8:00PM. Each year CCTV Channel One will give a very exciting and many famous and celeberaties will take part in the performance. 0:06,Feb 18,2007 and new year is in ! The firecrackers are all areas and all ears! |
