Beijing First Snow for year 2006
We had been expecting the first snow for quite some time. It was a warm winter for this year. This morning I got up as usual and was amazed to find the outside world is blanketed by falling snow! First snow is at last coming in Beijing for the year 2006, on Dec.30, two days before the coming of the new year 2007. The roads, roofs, trees and cars waiting outside are all coated with white colour, even though it's not a big snow. Now it is still snowing lightly! A little bit worried that the staff on duty today would be late for the scheduled time. I drove carefully on the slushy road, trying to get to the office earlier. The road is wet with melted dirty snow. The pedestrians on both sides of the road are walking slowly and often bow to watch their steps. Snow refreshes us with fresh air and bright colour. As uaual snow in Beijing spells joy And trouble.Vehicles inched along the roads with minor problems. In the past few years,Beijing local govermenet has developed a fairly good emergency services to deal with light, moderate and heavy snow. Most of the Beijingers are calmly greeting the snow.
