Yangtze River Cruises FAQS

Can you tell us more about Yangtze River cruise?
The 6300-kilometer-long Yangtze River is the longest river in China. The Yangtze river is normally divided into three parts. The first part is the upstream area from the origin to Yichang, Hubei province; the second part is the midstream area from Yichang to Jiujiang, Jiangxi province; the third part is the downstream area from Jiujiang to the East China Sea. Yangtze River cruise usually refers to the cruise through the Three Gorges that are located between Chongqing and Yichang in the upstream area. The Three Gorges are Qutang Gorge, Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge, which are the most beautiful part of the Yangtze River.

What are the ships available we can select for the Yangtze River cruise?
We offer various kinds of ships for your choice. For the 5-star ships, we use from Victoria series, Regal China, Dragons series and Oriental Royal Cruises to three-star ships such as Yuxiang and Isabella series. The higher the ship is rated, the more comfortable you will feel on the ship. Some of the ships are run by the native ship companies, some also managed by international companies, such as Regal China ,Victoria Cruises & Viking.

What is the ideal season for the cruise?
The best time to take a Yangtze River cruise is spring and autumn, namely, it is April, May, September and October when the weather is comfortable. We call the these four months high seasons. But you can enjoy best prices if you travel in other months or winter.

Any difference between the upstream and downstream cruise?
Actually there is no big no differences whether you sail from Chongqing to Yichang( or Wuhan )--downstream, or from Yichang ( or Wuhan ) to Chongqing -- upstream. But they do have some slight difference below:
1) Shore excursions: small differnce in land arrangement
2) Time: going upstream usually takes one or two more days than going downstream.
3) Price: price of upstream sailings is lower than that of downstream sailings for most of the ships.

Any specific request for the dress we should have on the ship?
No special dresses are needed on the ship. Just take what you like on the ship. But when you are going to take a shore excursion or go on the top ship deck for a good view, please make sure to have proper dresses to keep you from the strong wind in winter and the hot sun in summer.

What does the price of the cruise include?
The ship ticket usually covers s accommodations ( two sharing ), three Meals a day, shore excursions, entertainment, shows by the staff, daily activities, 24-hour room service, and port charges. But it excludes personal expenses, gratuities, alcoholic beverages, sauna/massage treatments.

If I am traveling alone, can l get a single room on ship?
If you want to share a single room on ship on your own, you have to pay single supplement. You know, usually two share one room on ships. Not all ships have single rooms available. You have to use a double room as a single room. Please consult with your travel trip advisor before your making any reservation.

What's the cabin like on cruise ships?
Of most 4-star & 5-star ships, almost all the suites and cabins have remote-controlled satellite color TV, central air conditioning, acoustics, in-cabin IDD, private bathroom with hair-dryer and extension phone.

What can we see and do along the Yangtze River?
When you cruise along the Yangtze River, you will cruise by some cities, Three Gorges and Three Gorges Dam. Each day you will be arranged to have at least one shore excursion. Different cruisers may arrange different shore excursions. Normally. these shoe excursions include the one day shore excursion to "Ghost City"-Fengdu, or Wanzhou or Shibaozhai; one day shore excursion to Lesser Three Gorges or Shennong Stream; one day excursion to the Three Gorges Dam.
Note: all the shore excusions will be arranged or adjusted according to the weather or actual condition at that time.
