Xian Bus
Touring Xi'an by bus is quite an experience of rubbing shoulder with locals as well as an economic way of travel. Xian buses are classified into four categories: City Public Bus, Tourism Bus, Airport Shuttle Bus and Long-distance Bus.

Xian City Public Bus and Fares
The city public buses run within the city proper of Xian. Most of them are the buses equipped with Automated Fare Collection System. Passengers are requested to drop RMB 1 into the box near the bus gate. So you'd better to prepare some coins or small notes before you are on the bus. The drivers are not responsible for the money change. If you are board an air-conditioned bus, you are supposed to drop RMB 2. For some mini-buses, you pay directly to the bus conductors according to the distance of your destination. The tickets usually vary from RMB 1 to RMB 5. The double deck city bus No.603 is often used by travelers running from the Bus Stop by the Xian Long-distance Bus Station (just across Xian Train Station) to the downtown - Bell Tower.
Xian Tourism Bus
If you prefer taking a bus to visit the attractions around Xian like Terra Cotta Army, Famne Temple, or even some sights not far from the downtown Xian, you may choose the tourism buses operated by the local bus companies. The tourism bus starts with the Chinese character "

Xian Airport Shuttle Bus
When you get out of the airport, go straight out the doors and you will see the transit buses in front of you. Its only costs you RMB 25 for the shuttle bus ride. It takes about one hour from the airport to the downtown Melody Hotel. So you will get off at the terminal just in front of the Melody Hotel in the city centre by the Bell Tower.
The shuttle bus goes from 7:00am in the morning to 11:00pm, operating every half hour. Check Xian Airport Shuttle Bus for more information.
Xi'an Long-distance Bus
Xian is a highway tranportation hub linking 9 national highways extending in all directions to 18 provinces covering over 300 cities and counties. There are three long-distance bus terminals. The biggest one is just located across Xian Railway Station. It is called Xian Qiche Zhan ( Xian Bus Station )offering the bus service to Gansu, Ningxia, Tibet, Mongolia, Chongqing, Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui and more.
