Xian Chengdu Hangzhou Suzhou Shanghai Trip
April 11, 2008. Today we left Chengdu for Hangzhou. We had to say goodbye to our hotel in Chengdu - Prime Hotel. It is really a nice hotel, specially the Building B of the hotel. It is located in the commercial center in Chengdu. Many big department stores are located just next door, like Wangfujin Department Store, Pacific Department and more. At 11:30am we left Prime Hotel. Our plane for Hangzhou was ro schedule to depart at 14:25. So we had enough time for lunch. The lunch was arranged at Yushangong Restautant. "Yushangong" literally means Imperial Food Palace. It was first set up by Tongrengtang Chengdu. Tongrentang Chengdu is a time-honored pharmacy, built 1704. In 1980, Chengdu Tongren Tang set up Yushangong Restaurant to combine Chinese imperial food and Chinese herbal medicine. In the 2000, the century-old pharmacy - Derentang and Tongrentang Pharmacy become a strategic partnership, having greatly enhanced the culture of Chinese herbal medicine imperial food. People liked the food very much, an experience for them.
After lunch, we drove directly to Chengdu Shuangliu Airport. We took Xianmen Airline No. MF8424, scheduled to leave Chengdu at 14:25 and arrive at Hangzhou at 16:25. The security check at Chengdu Airport was not so strict as at Xian airport. We were supposed not to be allowed to take any cigarette lighters. But all the smokers in our group had no any problem with lighters. Different standard of security check at different airports? Our plane landed safe and sound as scheduled. It was a cloudy day in Hangzhou. For the first time, we had a male tour guide - Charlie. He will be our tour guide for Hangzhou, Suzhou and Shanghai. He speaks good English by using simple English to express rich and complicated ideas. He is also a story teller. People like him very much.
We left Xiaoshan International Airport and directly drove to our restaurant for dinner - Xinggang Restaurant. It was a nice dinner with many local flavors, like begger' chicken, shrimp with dragon well tea, Dongpo Park, West Lake sweet and sour fish etc.
I had chosen Xinqiao Hotel for the hotel. Xinqiao is my favorite hotel in Hangzhou. It is located in a commercial area with lots of shpping malls, also close to the West Lake. After check-in at Xinqiao Hotel, I took some people of the group for a walk along the West Lake. Hangzhou is my hometown - a beautiful garde city. There is a saying in China goes that Hanghzou is a pradise on earth. We have a clean and green city; we have a romantic lake; we have poetic mountains and we have grand mother river - Qianjiang River.
We left our hotel in Chengdu - Prime Hotel, centrally located in Chengdu downtown area.
