I would like to personally thank you for your having chosen Mr. Li - our driver in Datong and Reina - our tour guide in Datong who were helpful and knowledgable. They took great care of me and my wife on our just ended short tour to Datong. They had a strong sense of punctuality. They fully understood what we wanted was. We found them extremely polite, curteuous. They are an asset to your company. The historic Datong is beyond our expectation! The Yungang Grottoes and Yingxian Wooden Pagoda are world class cultural heritage. It is a shame that the publicity of Datong is so limited. I took a taxi to my hotel in Datong - Yungang International Hotel.
It is my second visit to Datong. Last time I stayed at Datong Hotel - the best hotel at that time. Now Datong has seen many luxury new hotels. Yungang International Hotel I use this time is the only 5 star hotel in Datong at present. It is well located on the Daxijie ( Big West Street ). Actually the main entrance to the hotel doesn't face Daxijie, it faces the north. It has a big lobby lavishly decorated. I have booked a standard king-sized room. The room is well furnished and equiped. It offers free internet. I like the hotel.
After a short rest and simple washing, I go out on the street to familiarize myself with the surrounding area. To my surprise, at a such late hour, there is still much traffic and nightlife here! Night Club, KTV, Internet Bar and local flavor food restaurants.
The temptation to try the local flavor is so great that I choose one of the simple restaurants on the street near my hotel. Local people like to eat rabbit heads - "Tutou"!!! I have never tried " Tutou". Why not! A little scared, I have to prop up my spirit and enter the restaurant. The host is very kind and teach me how to eat Tutou. I also order one small bottle of high spirit - Erguotou and some dishes. Life is so beautiful - Erguotou and Tutou!
