Each spring festival ends on the important and colourful Lantern Festival on the evening of the 15th day of the month. The lantern festival for 2009 falls on Feb 09,2009. According to the Chinese tradition, on the evening of the lantern festival ( the year 2007 falls on Feb 21,2008), there is a bright full moon hanging in the sky ( if we are lucky enough to have a fine day.), there should be thousands of colorful lanterns hung out for people to enjoy. At same time, people will try to solve the puzzles on the lanterns and eat yuanxiao (glutinous rice ball). We call these balls Yuanxiao.So very often Lanter Festival is also called Yuanxiao Festival. People have all their families united in the joyful atmosphere. Many people will burn firecrackers to celebrate the important day! At 2:00 PM on Feb 09,2009, one of our staff will pick you up from your hotel. You will be taken to the nearby Neighborhood Committee. Then you will be assigned to stay with a hospitable family. You can join them to prepare the coming of the lantern festival, a sign to the ending of the Chinese New Year. You will have the chance to make yuanxiao ( glutinous rice ball) and eat the balls. After dinner, go out to take part in the lantern festival, enjoying the lantern and burning the firecrackers. Transferred to your hotel in the later evening.
