| Day 01: Beijing - Qinhuangdao by Train D21 ( 07:20am - 09:19am ) |
Pick up from your hotel in Beijing and transferred to Beijing Train Station. Then take D Train 21 ( 07:20am - 09:19am ) for Qinhuangdao.
Met by our representative in Qinhuangdao and freshen up. First drive to the First Pass Under Heaven at Shanhaiguan for a historic survey. The First Pass Under Heaven is considered the No.1 pass of the Great Wall. Built in Ming Dynasty around 700 years ago, the pass city used to be an important defence city against intrusions by the nomadic people from the north. The city was sandwiched by the Yanshan Mountains in the north and the Bohai Sea in the south, hence the name of Shanhaiguan meaning "Pass between Mountains and Sea' in Chinese. To the south of the ancient city is Laolongtou or Old Dragon's head, the north is Jiaoshan Great Wall.
After Chinese lunch, move on to visit Old Dragon's Head ( Laolongtou ), the easternmost end of the Great Wall, which extends 23 meters into the sea,like a dragon drinking water, hence its name. This part of the Great Wall was first constructed in the 7 th year of Wanli reign in the Ming dynasty (1579) and was largely repaired in the 7 th year of Kangxi reign in the Qing dynasty (1668).
Drive south to your beachside Hotel in Beidaihe. You have a free and relaxing later afternoon on your own, playing on the beach near your hotel.
| Day 02: Qinhuangdao - Beijing by Train D28 ( 15:10 - 17:10 ) |
After breakfast at your Hotel, check out and head to the east of Shanhaiguan for the Jiaoshan Great Wall hiking. Jiaoshan is the first mountain peak of the Great Wall from Shanhaiguan. Therefore people call it “the first peak of the Great Wall”. This section of the Great Wall was built during the reign of Emperor Hongwu (1328-1398) of the Ming Dynasty, and it extends about 1500 meters. You are arranged to take a chairlift to the top, then hike down the Great Wall. This section of the Great Wall is quite precipitous! Mind your steps while hiking.
After Chinese lunch, you are arranged to take D Train 28 ( 15:10 - 17:10 ) back to Beijing. Met and returned to your hotel in Beijing.
