Five forts on the wall in Datong
“Five forts on the wall” refers to the forts on the Great Wall built in Ming Dynasty. The “Five forts on the wall ” in Datong is divided into inner-five forts, outer-five forts as well as five fort in the north of the Great Wall.
“Five forts on the wall” we said normally means inner-five forts including Zhenbian, Zhenchuan, Hongci, Zhenlu, and Zhenhe, all of which are in the north of the Great Wall in Datong. The wall is 5-meter high and made of loess, so it was firmly enough to be preserved well.
As it is in the protrudent section of the Great Wall and close to Yong Gu Mausoleum as well asWan Niantang, it is an ideal place to admire the view beyond the Great Wall.
