Beijing Sunset Boat Tour in Old Beijing Area

The Shichahai scenic area is located in the central part of old Beijing area. It was once a part of the old Grand Canal of the Yuan Dynasty 700 years ago. Now it is rich with the old palaces of ministers, temples, famous Siheyuans (quadrangle) as well as old homes of celebrities in the
surrounding area.
Itinerary:
Pick up from your hotel in Beijing around 6:00pm. Then drive to River Ramance wharf which is located in the "Lotus Market", south of Houhai, a part of Shichahai Lake and opposite the back gate ( north gate ) of Beihai Park. Start boating around 7:00pm. The local boat company uses the boats which are 7 meters in length and 1.7 meters in width. It is made in line with the old Chinese Traditional painting dating to the Song Dynasty 800 years ago. All the boats are paddled by the boatmen who wear in yellow vests and bamboo hats. All the boats are equipped with all the red lanterns. You can enjoy some tea and local snacks on the boat. And at the same time, you also have the chance to get a close view of the local people's daily life on the banks while enjoying the sweet tune from the Chinese stringed and woodwind instruments played by the ladies on the bow of boats. The boats will pass under the Yingding Bridge( It is very famous in the local Beijing history). Then the boat enters a bigger lake. The most highlight tour is when the people at the bank will light up the candle in the little paper boats and put them into the water. The little boats flicker at each other. You just imagine the atmosphere in which the music is in the air, you feel you are back to old days of the Tang or Song Dynasty. After the boat ride, then transferred back to your hotel around 8:00pm, or you are free on your own in the Houhai bar area.
