Jingshan Park
Jingshan Park, lied directly north of the Forbidden City and a short walk east of Beihai Park, is a beautifully landscaped garden.
Covering an area of more than 30,000 square meters, Jingshan Park is centered with a hill-almost the only one in the city. It is filled with fruit trees, pines and cypress trees.
This artificial hill was constructed from the earth and rocks excavated to form the moat of the Forbidden City. The hill is 46m high - this doesn't seem very high but because Beijing is otherwise flat, the top offers good views.
Northwards, one can see the Drum and Bell Towers, a traditional feature of old Chinese cities. To the northwest, the two slabs of water of the Shichahai and Beihai Lake are intersected by Di抋nmen Dajie. To the south, the golden roofs of the Imperial Palace can be seen stretching into the distance.
