History: as early as 8,000 years ago, our ancestors once inhabited in this area, creating the Cishan Culture. During the Warring States period, Handan was the capital of the state of Zhao for 158 years. It was once the center of politic, economy and culture of northern China. After Qin united the six kingdoms, Handan was one of the 36 prefectures. In 1952, Handan was recovered to city-level after degraded in 1949.
Climate: With a typical semi-humid continental monsoon climate, Hanhan four distinctive seasons. It is very hot and rainy in the summer, and wet and windy in the spring. The weather is temperate and cool in autumn and chilly in winter. The annual average temperature is about 13.5℃. The region enjoys 200 frost-free days and 2557 hours of sunlight a year.

Railway-Handan is the important transport hub of north of China. Beijing-Guangzhou railway and Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway run through the city from north to south. Handan has two railway stations including Handan East Railway Station and Handan East High-Speed Railway Stat ion.
Highway-Beijing-Shenzhen Highway, Qingdao-Lanzhou Highway and Daqing-Guangzhou Highway meet junction in Handan.

Attractions: Wuling Congtai Terrace- Wuling Congtai Terrace (武灵丛台) is the symbol of Handan, situated in the center of the city. Wuling was the king of Zhao Kingdom. Wuling Congtai Terrace was the place for the king to train military and enjoy entertainment. It is a three-story brick structure with an area of 1,100 square meters and a height of 28 meters.
Toddler Bridge- Originally, the toddler bridge (学步桥) was a wood structure. In Ming Dynasty, it was reconstructed in stone bridge in order to prevent the destruction of flood. The bridge is 32 meters long and 9 meters wide. On the guardrails and balusters at each side of the bridge are carved reliefs of historical stories and lions, monkeys and other animals.
