Yichang Shopping


Yichang is located in the banks of the Yangtze River and is abundant in fruites and tea. The Cactus Tea and Xia Zhou Jade have won good reputation around the world for their sweet taste. Except for tea, elegant Xiling Painted Pottery, amongst the most famous ceramics in China, is a popular purchase. Fans of Chinese ancient culture should be on the look out for the so-called "four studying treasures," i.e. the writing brush, ink stick, ink slab and paper. Another local specialty is the Three Gorges Stone, featuring natural patterns, which local people believe have important symbolism. Sanxia oranges, wine and tea are also worth taking home.

Tea
Green tea is the best of the Yichang Tea. Chunmei Tea, Jasmine Chunjian Tea, Yihong Kungfu Tea, Cactus Tea and Luyuan Tea are all valuable varieties and welcomed by the tea drinkers. Where there is tea, there is tea service. Zhaojun Tea Services made in painted pottery factory are smooth in color and luster. In addition, some other products made there are also attractive, such as Quyuan Drinking Vessels.

Chestnut
It is one of Yichang's traditional specialities and famous for its big,delicious and rich nutritious. Its reddish pulp contains many nutrishing materials such as protein, fat, sugar, starch, high quality edible fiber and so on. Research shows that it has the function of improving blood circulation, building up constitution and prolonging life. The chestnut is well-known as "the King of Preserved Fruit".

Citrus
Yichang abounds in citrus fruits. It is recorded that about 2,000 years ago, citrus trees were planted here. The locals regard citrus tree as their city tree. Benefiting from its climate, the citrus here is juicy and sweet, and enjoys great prestige both at home and aboard. There are a great number of citrus varieties in Yichang, including red citrus and navel orange. Red citrus is named after its orange red flesh. It is a fine variety and the skin of which is thin and the flesh is tender. And the navel orange, which is also named as seedless orange, is big and sweet. It is a product for export and it is well received. Apart from the citrus, Yichang is also rich in Chinese gooseberry, persimmon, chestnut and peach.
