For each year, Beijing Xinhua International Tours will have its company outing. This year our destination is Zhengzghou & Luoyang city, Henan province. Today is Friday, June 13, 2008. Now we are on the train No.K179 going for Zhengzhou start from Beijing West Railway Station (Beijing Xikezhan). It is scheduled to start at 10:38 pm and arrive at Zhengzhou at 7:10 am the next day.
Beijing West Railway Station, the biggest I've ever seen and is the largest rail terminal in Asia located in Fengtai Distirct. I think it is quite beautiful modern and well-equipped for a railway station. Beijing West Railway Station, undertaking transportation of both passenger and cargos, is ranked as one of the seven largest domestic cargo transit stations. Beijing West Railway Station, the hinge of Beijing loop cargo trains, is also the center of rail lines from north China, northeast China and northwest China.
Beijing has five railway stations, Beijing Railway Station, Beijing West Railway Station, Beijing North Railway Station, Beijing South Railway Station and Beijing East Railway Station with lines running to almost all provincial, and to all China's major cities. There are four kinds of seats available-soft sleeper, hard sleeper, soft seats and hard seats. If you are went for any destination which has a travel time of over 6 hours, you should definitely try to get a soft seat. Trips over 12 hours a hard or soft sleeper is a must. Soft sleepers are more comfortable, but offer a more isolated (some would say private) train experience. Most overnight trains have dining cars. And if you really can't find a seat or bunk anywhere, you can usually pay a small amount to spend the night in the dining car. It is a good idea to bring your own food. Instant noodles, fruit and sausages are what most people bring. Hot water is available on Train.
