Tanggu Railway Station is located in the Tanggu area in Binhai New District, Tianjin. Tanggu Railway Station has a history of over 120 years traced back to the year 1888. With the recent renovation completed, it now looks new and white. Tang Gu Train Station has a large waiting room linked to a ticket selling building.
Plentiful trains connects Tanggu and Tianjin. There are also 4-5 trains running between Tanggu and Beijing. In tourist high season, you have to reserve your train tickets far in advance. For the non-peak time, it is quite easy to purchase the train tickets. For a coastal city like Tanggu, summer is undoubtedly the high season. The ticketing office is linked to the waiting hall. Entering the ticketing building, you will find people lining up by two or three windows. It would be better to know the train schedule before you buy your tickets. Very often the woman on the other side of the window tends to be impatient if you ask too much.
After getting your train ticket, head to the main waiting hall ajoined. It is a large round room which is bright and there is a crowd of people all seated waiting for the trains. The high steps in the room lead to the platform outside. The electronic signboard showing the timely train scedule stand by the steps leading up the platform.
For those arriving at Tanggu Train Station, it is not difficult to find a taxi to get to your destination in Tanggu or other parts of Binhai New District. If you go to Tianjin International Cruise Home Port, taking a taxi is highly recommended, which costs you around 50 yuan. Tanggu Railway Station is about 35km from Tianjin Cruise Port.

As for the bullet trains running between Beijing and Tianjin, the situation is quite different. Actually you don't have to pre-book the train tickets from Beijing to Tianjin. You know, there are 63 daily bullet trains going from Beijing to Tianjin and vice versa! One train per average 10-15 minutes! The plentiful bullet trains are like inter-city public buses, easy to go and easy to come. You can buy the train tickets on the spot, making ticket prebooking quite unnecessary given that you should get to the ticket booking offices at the station the early the better. It takes only 30 minutes between Beijing and Tianjin by bullet train.
