Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport
Since I had applied for an isle seat, I didn't have a good angle to take the mesmerizing sea of clouds and snow mountains below. It was a pity that I couldn't show you the particular geography in this area.Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport is located in Songpan County, Sichuan. This airport is mainly used for the two world famous scenic sports - Huanglong and Jiuzhaigou. Huanglong is 60km to the east of Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport; Jiuzhaigou is 90km to the north.
Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport has an altitude of 3447.65m, 3rd highest altitude in China ( just after Lhasa and Qamdo airports). Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport is about 240 km from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and the flight takes 40 minutes. Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport started its maiden flights on September 28, 2003. It has one 3200-meter runway 60 in width.
Because of the high sea level 3448 m, some passengers may suffer from the symptoms of altitude sickness. You should take it into consideration that you prepare for some herbal medicine or oxygen cans which are available at the airport.
We landed safely at Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport. The ground temperature was much lower than we expected: 2 degree celsius. We followed the throng and went out of the exit and found our tour guide Ms Larry were waiting at the exit. She later turned out to be a very professional and helpful.
