Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport is located 12km east of Chuan Zhu Si Town of Songpan County. Zhuan Zhu Si Town is our first and last stop before we get to Huanglong Scenic Area.
Chuan Zhu Si Town is a tourism booming town. It is a tranport hub connecting Huanglong 42km to the east, Jiuzhaigou 60km to the northeast and Chengdu over 300km. Now various hotels and restaurants have mushroomed in the small town. Chuan Zhu Si has become a modern, ethnic plateau town.
We drive along the wide mountain road to Chuan Zhu Si and took a half hiur break at a local small pharmacy. Huanglong is located over 3000 meters above sea level. To avoid possible altitude sickness, tourist buses would stop here for a while for people to prep for the travel at high sea level. They asell high-altitude medicine as well as some snacks and baked potatos.

Chuan Zhu Si - Huanglong Scenc Area 42km
We continue our drive along the newly completed highway leading to Huanglong. The 42km drive puts us to pass over some peaks over 4000 meters above sea level. The drive is up and down with foggy and lower visibility in the high peaks.
