Rize Valley

Jiuzhaigou has three valleys naturally formed in a Y shape. The Rize Valley 17km long and Zechawa Valley 18km long flow from the south and meet at a confluence where they form the Shuzheng valley 15km long in the middle, continuing to flow north to the mouth of the Shuzheng Valley. All the three valleys are accessible both by shuttle bus and boardwalks.

Rize Valley is one of the three valleys in Jiuzhai Valley (Jiuzhaigou) and the most beautiful of the three. After visiting Zechawa Valley and have a simple lunch at the service center, I take on the bus for Rize Valley.

The half hour drive brings us to the upmost tip of Rize Valley - the Virgin Forest. About 50% area of Jiuzhaigou Valley is covered by virgin forest and the forest at the top of Rize Valley is part of it. Not quite interested in the long walk into the forest, I just have a look and walk to the bus station for Grass Lake.

Walk from Pearl Shoals Waterfall along the boardwalks to the main road and the take the shuttel bus to the exit of Jiuzhaigou Park.
