Jinan is the capital of Shandong Province, a famous historical and cultural city. It is well known as the "Capital of Springs" or "City of Springs" since ancient times. It has four famous springs. They are "Baotu", "Black Tiger", "Pearl", and "Five-Dragon" among the 72 springs in the city. Jinan is located to the north of Mount Taishan and the sputh of Yellow River. Confucius was born in 551 B.C and was a great philosopher in the Chinese history and the founder of the Chinese Confucian school. He has had a decisive influence on the moral character and the cultural formation of the Chinese nation for more than 2000 years. Main scenic spots: Temple of Confucius, the Confucius Woods and Confucius" family mansion. Temple of Confucius was built in 478 B.C and it was a place for offering sacrifices to Confucius in various dynasties. The Confucius Woods: the tombs of Confucius and most of his descendants. They are the largest, the oldest and the best preserved religious tombs and gardens. Confucius" family mansion Confucius" family mansion: tt was the government office and private mansion of Confucius descendants. It was the largest family mansion in China except the Forbidden City.
