Pick up from your midtown hotel in Hangzhou and first head to Meijiawu Tea Plantation. Meijiawu has long been well known for its Longjing (Dragon Well) Tea tradition. It is a good place to understand the brilliant past and equally bright future of tea in China. Taking tea dates back to several centuries before the birth of Jesus! In the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220), people considered tea to a medicine for curing ailments. But drinking tea as a social function or leisure or cultural purposes date back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Drinking tea in China was quite popular around 760 AD. Meijiawu Village in particular is famous for its history of offering exquisite tea. Buying the local green tea is of course your main activity in Meijiawu Tea Plantation. After Chinese lunch, you are taken to Hangzhou China Silk Town ( Zhong Guo Si Chou Cheng ). The sild town is located in the center of Hangzhou. It is a 1150-meter long street featuring the former Ming style. In the silk town, there are over 100 silk stores selling silk fabrics, clothes, artworks, tourist souvenirs, neckties, scarves and various raw materials. The Silk Town is developing into a new national -level silk center for silk trading and silk exhibition as well. The silk town is be a must-go ste for tourists in Hangzhou. The silk town is well known for good prices, but still watch out for fake stuff like elsewhere. If you have the time, you may have a Hangzhou's tailor get a tailor-made garment for you.
After visiting the silk town, continue to have a walking tour of Qinghefang Pedestrian Street. Qinghefang pedestrian street is 460-meter long street, a well-preserved histotical street in Hangzhou. A great number of time-honored shops are located here, making it
a must-go shopping place for tourists. Since the Southern Song Dyansty Qinghefang has been a prosperous area and the business center of Hangzhou. All kinds of folk arts fully embodies the local flavor and characteristic here. If you are interested in the modern shopping malls, you are arranged to enjoy window shopping at the major shopping malls in Hangzhou. After the whole day tour, you are returned to your hotel in Hangzhou.
