Sichuan food is one of the Four Famous Chinese Cuisines and is composed of local food and noted dishes of Chongqing, Chengdu, Northern Suchuan and Southern Sichuan.Chongqing's city center is filled with restaurants and food stalls where you can pick up a cheap and filling meal for less than RMB10. Local specialties here include dumplings and pickled vegetables and, different from many other Chinese cuisines, Chongqing dishes are ideal for the solo diner- arriving in small individual sized portions!

Bangbang Chicken
Bangbang Chicken is a street vendor’s dish in Chongqing. much street cuisine it is speedy and simple. In the original version, the chicken is simply simmered and then pounded into shreds. While it cooks, the characteristic nutty flavored sauce is made by softening sesame paste with a little of the cooking broth and then blending in Chinese sesame oil, soy, rice vinegar, chili oil, and a touch of sugar.
Savory sesame paste is strong, beautifully aromatic and much used in Szechuan cooking. However, many recipes substitute either tahini or smooth peanut butter, in which case extra sesame oil should be added to intensify the flavor-Chinese sesame oil is much more pungent than the Middle Eastern variety.
The dish is assembled by shredding lettuce leaves and strewing over them some carrot, red onion, and fine strips of scallion or cucumber. The shredded chicken is laid on top and the hot, slightly sweet-and-sour sauce is drizzled over the top.
Beef Hotpot
Hotpots are a traditional famous dish of Sichuan, of which Chongqing hotpot is specially noted. Characterised by hotness, heavy flavours and dense soup, Chongqing hotpot ingredients include beef and vegetables, which are simmered in a ‘help yourself’ pot of simmering broth. Hotpot enjoys a long history in China, for example, Chongqing hotpot has been around for over 100 years, since the early middle of the Qing Dynasty.
Pork leg cooked with rock candy
Pork leg cooked with rock candy is a common household dish of the Chongqing people. The finished dish, red in color and tender to taste, has a strong and sweet after-taste.
Sliced meat with crispy rice is a major dish in Chongqing. The meat tastes soft and tender forming a contrast with the crispy rice. When sampling this dish, you can even hear the sizzling sound emerging from the rice.

The fish is fried, featured sugar-vinegar taste.
Dan Dan Noodle
Dan Dan Noodle is a classic dish of Chinese Sichuan cuisine. It consists of a spicy sauce containing preserved vegetables, chili oil, Sichuan peppers, pork, and scallions served over noodles.
