Dong Dajie
Located in eastern side of Bell Tower, Dong Dajie is the main commercial street in Xi'an. In the early time, the commercial center of Xi'an was lied around train station. However, as its confusion, the commercial center transferred to Jie Fanglu, not far away the train station. Whereas, the street is dispersive with a lot of crossing around it, so finally, the commercial centre was settled down in Dong Dajie.
The architectures on the street are irregular. Some are despaired building for a long time and others seem to be luxury such as Hyatt Restaurant. However, this humoristic pattern does not effect the flourishing business at all. Most of the shops are monopolistic stores for clothes trading in the popular brands such as Baleno, Jeanswest, etc with the reasonable price. The business is beyond compare during the period of discount. Nowadays, several Korea cloth store are rushing the street, which is another attractive landscape in the street. The famous Kaiyuan Department Store and Baisheng Shopping Plaza are seated here. Dong Dajie is the leader of fashion of Xi'an
Xi Dajie
Located in the west of the City Wall, with a total length of 2088 from Bell Tower to Xi Gate, Xi Dajie is a traditional commercial center. As the flux of the history, its commercial status descent gradually. In order to protect and go down the unique of the ancient city, the government decided to make the alteration project.
After 4-year reconstruction, the commodious and archaized cultural street replaces the former one's old and cabined. At present, it has become a focus with 10 large-scale commercial spots including Baisheg Shopping Plaza, Yihe Shopping Center, Zhengyang International, Zhonghuan Shopping Plaza, Shanghai City, Liren Street, Tangren Street, Central Golden Flower Department Store and so on. Some financial institution such as East-Asian Bank of Hongkong, China Guangda Bank, Agricultural Bank of China, China Merchants Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Citic Bank, etc. Together with its surrounding highlight, Xi Dajie is the preferred destination for visitor both native and abroad.
Sheyuan Gate ( the art street )
The ancient cultural street of Shuyuan Gate is satiated in the south of the old district of Xi'an City, not far from Bell Tower. About 106 meters away from the south circumvallation of the Ming Dynasty, its total length is 570 meters. Shuyuan Gate is famous for situating Guanzhongshuyuan, the biggest institute of the Ming Dynasty in Shaanxi. Most of the constructions in the whole street were built with blue bricks, doors and windows built with grilles, and sloping roofs. Full of the firms, the street has turned into a complex of commerce and tourism.
Along the street, both sides are crowed with more than 100 stores trading in rubbings, calligraphy and painting of celebrity, seal, the four treasures of the study including writing brush, ink stick, ink slab, paper and so on. The modern craftworks are the main attractions in the street. It has everything that one expects to find such as ceramic tomb figure, calligraphy and paintings, redware, seal cutting, cave, etc. These days, Shuyuan Gate has turned into a tour location gathering shopping, tourism, dinning, entertainment overflowing the exquisite cultural atmosphere.
Mule and Horse City Cloth Street
Mule and Horse City with merely 365 meter-long from north to south and 14 meter-wide, is a most bustling commercial street. In the end of Qing Dynasty, it was a place for the animal market mainly for mules and horse, so it was named ˇ°Mule and Horse Cityˇ±. Although sound a little worldliness, the name radiates the special historical sapor.
Now it has developed a individual fashionable dress street, with the influx of the fashionable dress from Shanghai, Shenzhen. Most of the storekeepers are young boys and girls. Stores are playacted with unique styles. It is a banner of the northwest area, leading the new tideway of the costume.
In the most flourishing period, there are thousands of operators. Everyday the number of the customers is up to 30 or 40 thousand. It is said to be the most blue-chip area.
