Luoyang City lies in the western part of Henan Province along the middle reaches of the Yellow River. The name Luoyang indicates its location, i.e. the northern side of the Luoshi River. With a history of nearly 5,000 years, the city is of ten regarded as “the Hinterland of the Nine States”. Additionally, as one of the Seven Ancient Capitals in China, Luoyang used to be the capital city of 13 dynasties for a period of over 1,500 years.
