Dear Reina,
My wife, Doug, and I have just returned from our Beijing-Xian-Shanghai trip and want to thank you and your Beijing and extended suppliers throughout China for the wonderful one week we spent in China and the most dedicated and professional service we received from our guides in Beijing (Alan), Xi'an (Jerry) and Shanghai (Bob) and their respective drivers. I make these comments as a marketing research professional whose practice includes customer service quality fulfillment evaluation. Of particular importance is that all of our arrangements were made with Tour-beijing.com via E-Mail and everything was actually delivered as promised and more.
Best personal regards, Doug Cirruzzo

Shanghai Bus

Shanghai has over 1000 bus lines run by various bus companies such as Bashi, Dazhong, Guanzhong and Qiangsheng for the largest. The total bus number is daunting, putting people off. In Shanghai, unlike taxi and subway, public buses are not manageable though taking public bus is the safest and cheapest way of getting around in Shanghai. There are good reasons to keep from the bus due to the simple truth that it is difficult to navigate if you don't speak Chinese and aren't familiar with the city's myriad of bus lines.

Thinga are not as bad as it is if you do a bit of prior reseach and get to know some of the essential bus lines. Then you can get around in Shanghai quickly and cheaply.

Shanghai Bus Fare
Normal buses usually charge RMB 1 and RMB 1.8 while air-conditioned buses charge 2 RMB. It is advisable that you get ready some coins or small notes with you since many buses have no conductors. You are requested to place the coins in the slot at the entrance to the bus. To avoid keeping coins with you, you are highly recommended to purchase a Transportation Card (Jiao Tong Ka). The card is available at subway station ticket kiosks. It works on a debit system. You put money into the card, and the balance is deducted as you use the card. The best part of the card is that it can be used when you take subway, taxi as well as buses. To buy a jiao tong card you go to the service center in any metro station. There will be a deposit of RMB 20 for the card and they only put in 80 if you pay RMB 100 for one card.
