Anshun Travel Guide

Location: Situated to the east of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau in the mid-western part of Guizhou Province.

History: Anshun is rich in tea. Its traditional craft of wax printing has a history of more than 2000 years. One hundred li around Anshun are scenic spots of Yellow FruitTrec, Dragon Palace, Zhijing Cavern, Baili Azalea. Maling River, etc.

Transportation: Anshun is a city located in the mid-west of Guizhou Province and is 90 kilometers (about 56 miles) from the capital city Guiyang. Getting to and from Anshun is now more convenient due to the opening of Huangguoshu Airport in 2006.
The road extends in all directions: the first speedway in southwest of China Guizhou-Huangguoshu Speedway offers great convenience to tourists. A two-hour drive takes tourists from Guiyang to Anshun. Getting around by train is also very convenient due to Guiyang-Kunming Railway Line which runs through Anshun City. The Huangguoshu Tourist Special Line shuttles between Guiyang and Anshun every day.
Within Anshun, buses are clean and there are about 15 bus lines in the city. You can catch a bus at any station to reach the main streets in the city. Moreover, there are about 500 taxis in Anshun City which are fairly priced and safe to use.

Grand Waterfall Hotel-Grand Waterfall Hotel, Anshun is an international hotel located on Guihuang Road. It is 45km to Huangguoshu Waterfall and 27km to Longgong tourism resorts. The hotel offers Chinese and Western restaurants, a bar, and a banquet hall with a set of facilities.

Nightlife: When in Anshun, one must visit the night market to try out local snacks. The main night market in Anshun can be found at the crossing of East Street and Guofu Street. Vendors also sell snacks along the east side of Tashan Road. The food is varied and delicious, offering snacks such as Bean curd Bolus, Crystal Iced Jelly, and Glutinous Rice with Pickled Cabbage. On average, a meal should cost approximately CNY20 per person.

Weather: Anshun has a pleasant climate with an abundant of natural resources. The average temperature is around 15 centigrade. The hottest month is July, but the average temperature is just between 21 centigrade and 24 centigrade. The coldest month is in January and the temperature varies between 4.2 centigrade and 6.72 centigrade.

Attractions: Hangguoshu Waterfall, Dragon Palace Cave Scenic Spot, Tianxingqiao Scenic Area, Zhijin Cave

Hangguoshu Waterfall-Huangguoshu Waterfall, the biggest one in China and one of the famous ones in the world, is about two hundred and thirty feet long and two hundred and sixty six feet wide. Its water rushes down to a pond named Xiniu Pond (Xiniu Tan) with thunderous roars which can be heard in five kilometers away.
During the flood season, the water rolls down to Xiniu Tan like ten thousand horses galloping and shakes the ground and the hill. The breakers send up a fountain of spray adding more mystiques to this place. All these will make you profoundly affected.



Dragon Palace Cave Scenic Spot- Dragon Palace Cave Scenic Spot is a magnificent underground cave system with lakes, waterfalls and stalactites, covering an area of almost 60 square kilometers (about 23 square miles). Because the main cave looks like the crystal palace where the dragon king lives, it is known as Dragon Palace Cave.



Tianxingqiao Scenic Area- Tianxingqiao (Tianxing Bridge) Scenic Resort is located six kilometers away from the famous waterfall - Huangguoshu Waterfall. It is noted for narrow gorges, aquatic stone forest and karst caves. The beautiful scenery has attracted many tourists and it was one of the shooting sites of a famous Chinese TV "Pilgrimage to the West".
