We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Jiaxiu Tower 甲秀楼
Jiaxiu Tower is perched on the southern bank of Nanming River. It was originally built based a giant rock dating back to Ming Dynasty ( 1368 - 1644). In Qing Dynasty it was rebuilt for several times and the present pavilion dates back to 1909. It is a three-story pavilion 20 meters high with white stone railings, Nanming River passing by at its front. A stone archway bridge named "Fuyu Bridge" connects the pavilion and spans the river. It has a stunning view with clear rivers and green mountains on its four side.

Cuiwei Garden 翠微园

The garden has the only Ming-era buildings left in Guiyang city, dating back to the years between 1488 and 1505. The garden features vividly designed buildings and pavilions, elegant long corridors with flower walls, a combination of quietness, grandness and simplicity.

Get Around in Guiyang
Guiyang has a convenient public bus system, but it is mainly designed for the local Chinese and it is a bit touch for foreigners to get familiar with the travel routes. Bus fare is cheap with 1 yuan around the town and 2 yuan for a distant place.

It is a good way to travel around Guiyang by taxi. The taxi charges 10 yuan at flagfall for the first 3 km and 1.6 yuan per km after. But in a rush hour, it is not easy to hail a taxi, so you'd better book your taxi in advance if you have to catch flight or train. Some taxis may pick up extra passengers in the city center.

It is not bad an idea to walk a bit around some neighborhoods to explore some interesting small shops and restaurants. So footwork is a great way to travel around the city of Guiyang.

Like those in the southwest China, people in Guiyang favor spicy food. Hotpot is spread with salty and dried chili power. You can ask for less spicy food, but it is better to do the way local do. North of the train station and Jiefang Road, you can find lots of eateries at Zunyi Road, hotpot, Sichuan food and local ordinary food. It is close around 10pm.
