We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Hube Map china_travel_guide hubei
If you cruise on Yangtze River downstream, you probably end up at Yichang or Wuhan, which are all located in Hubei Province. Cutting through by the Mighty Yangtze River and Hanshui River and peppered with lakes, Hubei is fertile and lush with the moniker of "Land of Rice and Fish".

Hubei features diverse landscapes with its western regions dominated by mountains and forests. The sublime Mount Wudang is a holy Taoist mountain listed as UNESCO World Heritage. Shennongjia Nature Reserve is a noted national park with eye-popping views.

Hubei is located in the center of the East China with a long history dating back to the Chu Kingdom more 2000 year ago. Today its legacy can be still found in the ancient city of Jingzhou, 222 km west of Wuhan. Wuhan itself is a crystallization of the modern Chinese history with huge developments still afoot.

Hubei Travel Information

When to Visit
Hubei features a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Winter falls between December through early next March and January is the coldest month with average 1 to 6 °C; Summer could be very hot from July to August. Wuhan is bitterly hot and humid, dubbed as "furnace". But the west mountainous regions, namely Mount Wudang and Shennongjia Nature Reseve attract legions of tourists with their cooler summer.

Spring ( late March to May ) and Autumn ( from September through early November ) are the best season to visit Hubei, mild and comfortable temperature, lush with greenery and flowers in spring and colored leaves in autumn.

Get There & Around
With its central location, Hubei is easily accessible by flight, railway and expressway. You can enter Hubei by flying in or out of Wuhan and Yichang. There are railway stations in the major cities in Hubei like Wuhan, Yichang, and Shiyan and more, which link many cities in China. You can also take a bus to enter Hubei which has a well-developed network of expressway and local highways.

One of the interesting experience to enter Hubei is to take a cruise ship drifting on Yangtze River and enter Hubei at Yichang or Wuhan. The most popular cruise is to start from Chongqing passing through the Three Gorges Dams, the massive 5-stage ship lock and end up at Yichang.
