Shanghai Children Palace
The Shanghai Children's Palace offers talented children after-school-education for gifted children. It is situated on West Yanan Road in downtown Shanghai. It was first built in 1953 by Song Qingling ( Madam Sun Yatsen). Children attend a wide selection of extracurricular activities like music, dance, art, model making, science, technology and computer science. The palace holds many art performances and science and technology contests very year, and which interests many kids.
Children Palace is in fact a kind of spare time school, but kids don't learn the same knowledge as they do in schools. There are lots of programs in the palace, such as piano, painting, calligraphy, dancing and computer. Children can take part in one or two programs in light of their own interests. All the children ranging from 5 to 14 years old, can go to the palace when they can pass a simple examination and pay a small sum of money one term.
The palace is in fact a part of China's social welfare because the government offers some financial support to the palace. It also have some donations from all works of life. You can find this kind of palace in many large and medium-sized cities in China. They have assist the country in training many gifted children into sport world champion and musicians.
