Situated in the center of Pingyao county, the ancient city wall is the earliest, largest and the best preserved. The Wall is in the shape of squareness with the total length of 6,157 meters, the height of 10 meters. As the function of defense, on the top of the wall set up shooting hole, watching hall…… The moat around the wall helped much to rescue the public during the war period.
There is a Kui Xing Lou on the southeast of the wall. The octagonal tower is 24-meter high, with the colored glaze floor, refinemently. For recent years, the city wall once fell down in some parts, so how to protect the ancient city wall has been an urgent theme.
