We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Zhaojun Tomb
Zhaojun Tomb is the resting place of Wang Zhaojun, 6km south of Hohhot city. It has been listed among the eight most popular attractions in Hohhot. It is also named Green Tomb because it is said each year when the weather get colder, other grass becomes yellow and withered, while only the grass on this tomb remains green.

Wang Zhaojun was one of the four well-known beauties in ancient China. She was born in Han Dynasty and was selected to imperial palace for her goodliness. In front of the tomb, bronze statues of Wang Zhaojun and her husband (Khan), depict a vivid picture of them riding horses and talking to each other intimately.

In 33 BC, Chanyu, the emperor of Xiongnu wishes to make friendly relationship with Han Dynasty by marrying a fem of Han Dynasty. In order to accelerate the amity of the two groups, Wang Zhaojun made free will to marry Chanyu. During her life in Xiongnu, she lived in yurt, wore blankets and furs, and drank milk, showing her respect for local customs. Besides, she also made great contributions to remain the good relations between Han and the Xiongnu group, and won the respect of local people. In order to commemorate her, the local people built the tomb after her death to commemorate her.

Now Zhaojun Tomb is not simply a tomb, but the symbol of friendship between two different nations. Zhaojun Tomb is a must during you Innner-Mongolia tour.
