There are nine nationalities in Maduo County: Zang, Han, Mongolian, Hui, Salar, Man, Tu, Yao and Miao. Among these nationalities, Zang occupies most, about 85% of the whole population.

Transportation:
Maduo has very convenient transportation. National Highway No. 214 and Qing-Kang raod run through Maduo County from north to south.
There are regular buses between Xining to Maduo every morning, taking about 10 hours. You can also take the bus from Xining to Yushu, and get off at Huangheyan Station. Huangheyan is the junction of National Highway No. 214 and Chamali. There are taxis which can take you to the county in Chamali. It won’t cost you too much money.
