Suzhou Travel Information
Autumn (September to November) is the best time to visit Suzhou. Heavy rainfall often occurs in spring and Summer and June is the rain season. March and April are also good season to see the brilliant colours in Suzhou. Winter (December to Fabruary) could be cold, humid and foggy.
Train Travel to Suzhou
Travel to Suzhou by train is most comfortable and convenient. Numerous daily highspeed trains running from Shanghai(half hour), Hangzhou(one and half hours), Nanjing(one and half hours) and more other cities. Suzhou Railway Station is located north of the city moat of Suzhou city. Enqiry: 0512-95105105. It has 7 platforms and 16 pairs of railway tracks. Its main building has five storeys - two storeys above and three storeys undergound.

Arriving at Suzhou Railway Station, you have two ways to get to the downtown Suzhou from the train station – by bus or taxi. If you are ging to take a Suzhou taxi from the station, you don’t need to take an escalator up to the ground. You just exit from the arrival and turn right, you find a taxi sign. The taxi stand is located in the northeast corner on B1. If you’d like to use the local public buses to travel around Suzhou or get to your hotel in Suzhou, you take an escalator from outside your arrival hall (B1) up to the north square bus station ( on your right hand).
Overland Travel to Suzhou
Going to Suzhou by long-distance bus is also a popular way of traveling Suzhou. Plentiful buses shuttle to Suzhou from Hangzhou(Two Hours), Shanghai(one and half hours), Nanjing(2 and half hours) and more cities. There are two long-distance bus stations in Suzhou - Suzhou North Long-distance Bus Station (0512-65776577) and Suzhou South Long-distance Bus Station. There are many taxis in Suzhou and taking taxi is a safe and easy method of travel for tourists in Suzhou.Suzhou Taxi Fares:

Bus Y2: Go from Tiger Hill, Pan Gate and along Shiquan Jie.
Bus Y5: Run round the western and eastern areas of Suzhou City.
Bus 1 and Bus 4: Drive along the main street in Suzhou - Renmin Road.
Going around the city of Suzhou by bike is favored by many first time travelors coming to Suzhou. You may nerved by the random traffic on the streets and some crazy drivers, just avoid them and choose some quite alleys along the canals and streets. There are some bike rental shops for your easy booking. Check your brake and seat carefully before you pedal off.
At present, only one subway line has been finished with one stop at the Renmin Road and connecting Luzhi (water town), 25km southeast of Suzhou downtown.
