Location: Fuzhou lies on the bank of estuary of Min River ,the largest rive in Fuzhou and faces Taiwan across the river.

History: The first city wall of Fuzhou was built in 202 BC when Liu Bang, the founding emperor of the Han Dynasty, gave permission to Wuzhu, the king of Minyue, to set up his capital in Fuzhou. The emperor of the Song Dynasty ordered destruction of all the walls in Fuzhou in 978 AD but new walls were rebuilt later. The latest was built in 1371 AD.
On November 22, 1933, the leaders of the 19th army set up a short-lived Republic of China in Fuzhou (compare the name to Chiang ?Republic of China, which literally means ?People’s State of China it collapsed in two months.
Climate: Fuzhou enjoys a typical sub-tropical marine climate, characterized by mild temperatures, the average annual temperature is 19.6 degrees C. July and August are the hottest months when the temperature reaches over 30'C. Winter is fairly warm, although temperatures on the coldest nights can drop to 3'C.
Transportation: The transportation of Fuzhou is very convenient, the highways can go directly to more than 30 counties and cities inside the province, and get close to each province mutually; The railroad follows the Waifu line, links up the national railway network by the Yingxia line; they have already developed the airlines to Haerbin, Changchun, Shenyang, Dalian, Lanzhou, Xian, Chengdu, Guiyang, Chongqing, Kunming, Guilin, Guangzhou, Haikou, Beijing, Tianjin, Taiyuan, Qingdao, Zhengzhou, Jinan, Changsha, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Shanghai, Hefei, Huang Mountain, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Nanchang, Wuyi Mountain, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Macau and sea the flight lines to go directly to Zhejiang, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok etc.

Drum Mountain-is a Buddhist place of interest, with 969 meters height and has awesome scenery in surrounding. Drum Mountain or Gu Shan in local tongue, is situated in the eastern part of Fuzhou City, on the north bank of the Min River. There is a giant drum-shaped rock at the summit, and it is said that when heavy rains fall, the rock makes the sound like a beaten drum.
Fuzhou West Lake Park-The park has a history of over 1,700 years up till today. West Lake has a total area of 45hectares and a water area of about30 hectares. It has three islands in total, i.e. Kaihua Island, Xieping Island and Yaojiao Island. The three islands are connected by Liudi bridge, Feihong bridge ,Buyun bridge and Beizha bridge respectively. The main spectacles consist of the willow landscape on fairy bridge ,spring rain in the center of the lake, the Gudie slanting sunshine ,vying for crossing between lake and sky, Wanzai Room, Ziwei hall, Jianhu Pavilion, Lotus Pavilion, and Osmanthus Room ,etc.
Main Hall of Hualin Temple-It is outside the compound of the Fuzhou provincial government, at the southern foot of Pingshan Hill in northern Fuzhou Originally, there were stones bearing inscriptions in the imperial handwriting, the Mahavira Hall Huanfeng Pavilion, Juexue Hut, and Shenghui Pavilion. Only the main hall is extant. Regions south of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River are rainy and humid, hard for old wooden buildings to survive. The Main Hall at the temple is one of the ancient wooden structures existing south of the Changjiang River.
Fuzhou Forest Park-Formerly called Tree Park, it is one of the nine principal parks in China serving both scientific research and tourism. The park in Chiqiao Village on the northern outskirts of Fuzhou consists of a forest zone, a tree nursery, a greenhouse, a special tree specimen park, and a rest area.
