Itinerary

Our tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Beijing in the early morning around 8:00am. Get to the Simatai Great Wall before 10:00. This part of your treking is one of the most beautiful sections of the Great Wall. Today's hike is focused on the east section of the Simatai Great Wall - 12 towers.


Actually there are totally 16 watchtowers distributed on the Simatai Great Wall snaking the ridge of the steep mountain. The 13th-16th towers are forbidden to hike due to their steepness and treacherousness.


For most Simatai Great Wall lovers, people prefer to hike up the Great Wall, then take the cable car down. If you don't have strong legs, you may take the cable car up to an open place close to the 8th tower ( White Cloud Tower ), then climb up or climb down the Great Wall, or again you may choose to take the cable car back to the ground. Cable car is optional.


Have lunch at a local restauran at the foot of the wall. After the late lunch, get back to the hotel downtown Beijing.

2. At Simatai Great Wall, you will meet lots of local vendors who will follow you from the beginning to the end. Don't worry about the these farmer turned vendors. Just treat them with respect and they will treat you the same. They can be quite helpful if you have any difficulty on the way. The local vendors make a living by selling bottled water, postcards, tourist books, T-shirts and souvenirs at higher prices. You are not obligated to buy from them but it can be hard to make them go away. If you don't want to buy anything, tipping is expected.
